Vocal-Star Karaoke Introduction
Vocal-Star Karaoke still has an active website (2023). The firm offers a variety of services. Indeed, they sell DJ/KJ equipment, karaoke discs and downloads.
They also have an online competition to find talent. So, the firm is actively promoting the things we are interested in.
Their website claims to have free karaoke songs, but this is a link to their YouTube channel. That’s not a bad thing because all their karaoke songs are online.

We almost overlooked the VS label because most of our reviews here took place around 2014. However, a keen-eyed member put us right in 2019. He sent in his songbooks and disc information, etc. That information allowed us to compose a catalogue of discs, a songbook and a review. First, we had to rush to eBay and buy a few Vocal Star Karaoke discs.
Fred is no longer a member and was never part of the staff. However, we were over the moon that he spotted our mistake. Of course, this is an example of how you can help. In other words, if you see anything wrong at Karaoke Info, big or small, drop us a line.
Vocal-Star Karaoke Review
The splash screens show the company name at the top. You also see the song title and the original artist. Sometimes, they could be white words on a black background. Other times, the wording could be blue.
The company boasts that their tracks don’t fade out. In other words, a definitive ending. This is what Zoom says about their tracks, too.
The similarity continues with the on-screen lyrics – white words changing to blue on a black background. The duets are multi-coloured.
However, the similarities come crashing down with a bump for the backing music. While Zoom’s music is spot on, Vocal-Star’s is not as good. However, the firm claims to have the best backing music. The jury is out on that score.
Of course, all things are relative. However, you’ll notice the difference in comparing these tracks to most of the more significant karaoke firms. The ones we heard sounded decent enough, but some were inferior.
The on-screen lyrics sometimes lagged slightly in our samples. At least the following lyric showed on screen in good time. Their YouTube presentations differ from the disc versions. So, if you do purchase any, take that on board.
Lastly, the cover art ranges from overwhelming to plain.

Desirability Factor
We don’t recommend the label because there are much better ones available. This comes down primarily to the backing music. Of course, if the discs come along dirt cheap, why not?
Vocal-Star Karaoke Songbook (Discs & Digital)
For those with the discs, we have a comprehensive songbook. However, their downloads continue to grow, so we have no option but to issue a digital version. Where possible, our digital books follow the guidance of the manufacturer. However, some firms may not be so thorough as to include a suitable track prefix.
Both versions of our songbook have three different styles for your convenience. Digital songbooks are a way to keep order and prevent karaoke song duplications.
