Toshiba EMI Karaoke Introduction
This page refers to a small set of Toshiba EMI Karaoke discs. Toshiba is a Japanese brand producing all sorts of reliable electronic products. They also managed to dip into the karaoke market with EMI. But you want to know how the CDGs perform. Well, read on for more information and reviews.

All in all, the list we have goes back a few years. The date on all the discs shows either 1990 or 1991. Because they stem from that period, they were among the first few companies to delve into the karaoke disc market.
A few karaoke disc ID numbers (prefixes) are missing from our list below. We do not know if the ‘missing’ ones ever came off the production line.
Also, on the karaoke disc label, you will see the name Toshiba EMI. However, we might only refer to the discs as Toshiba for convenience at certain times. In terms of the music industry, EMI was a formidable force then. They still are, of course. So, this was two large companies joining forces. But did this work well? Toshiba EMI Karaoke Review
As you would expect from a karaoke label that released CDGs before most others, these discs have numerous golden oldies. However, they do have a sprinkling of newer songs from the period around the release date of the CDGs.
Our initial assessment is that they are well worth the money if you can still get hold of them.
Although the music isn’t as vibrant as we are used to, the discs are still good for their time. The emphasis is on the melody coming from some form of wind instrument. Give them a chance, and they will grow on you. We are not being negative here because these discs score highly.
The splash screen is bright, with only the song title and the artist. When the song finishes, it simply says “end.” Be that as it may, they put some on-screen graphics during the instrumental bits, which is a bonus.
Indeed, some songs end with an image, particularly those with long instrumental endings. The on-screen lyrics match the song impeccably, with hardly any lag. Indeed, some songs end with an image, particularly those with long instrumental endings.
The cover art escapes us, as our samples did not include the sleeves. However, the CDGs are similar throughout, without any artwork.
