You would be lucky to get any of these CDGs, new and sealed. However, we do still find discs like this from time to time. Since the Tip Top Karaoke label comes from the early nineties, it is one of the oldest collections. Indeed, they also released some laser karaoke discs (see the sleeve images).

Be that as it may, your best bet is to check them out on the second-hand market should you decide to buy any after reading this page. When we searched the internet in 2014 and 2017, we couldn’t find any available for sale anywhere.

The following table lists the Tip Top Karaoke disc ID numbers (prefixes). But please be aware that some KJs sometimes use different prefixes.

That is because a delay in the lyrics is noticeable. After all, at a karaoke gig, people usually drink alcohol. Alcohol slows down responses, of course.

The choice of music also shows the age of the discs. However, they are not that bad, and you can use them at gigs without problems. These discs are also decent enough for home use.

The artwork on the CDGs is non-existent. They all look similar, but that is never a selling point. We weren’t overly excited about these discs because better ones are available nowadays.

Desirability Factor

We may have given these a hard time in our tests, but they will do a job. Casual collectors will be happy enough with them. However, established labels have better versions of the songs. If you can acquire the complete set, avid collectors will pay top money for them.

Of course, we can’t possibly test each track in this karaoke collection. But we thought we had enough after a few of the tests. If you have these discs and think our assessment is wrong, drop a line in the comments section below.

To Sum Up

Of course, as a karaoke disc collector, you want the best discs available. Unfortunately, we think there are better discs out there. Therefore, if you see them on eBay or any other place, leave them for other people unless a complete set comes up for sale.

Nonetheless, hardcore karaoke disc collectors will still buy Tip Top karaoke discs. In other words, they will be in demand by some people. After all, that is what collecting is all about. So, if you come across the complete set, remember that people are willing to pay handsomely for every disc in this collection.
