Superstar Karaoke Introduction
Superstar Karaoke released a collection of over 100 discs. Read on for more information and reviews to see how these discs perform.
In brief, there is the SKG5xx series, which is Multiplex (MPX). These CDGs have a guide lead vocal on every song. However, you can turn off the vocal accompaniment using a suitable karaoke machine.
Then there’s the SKG9xx series with the non-vocals. Multiplex discs can help in many ways, of course. For instance, they can help you remember which way to sing the songs!
Golden Age Of Karaoke
Superstar Karaoke is another firm that popped up in the golden years. Of course, this was an era when there was a glut of karaoke manufacturers.
However, like most other karaoke firms from the heydays, this firm ceased production. That was after a short while in the business. Be that as it may, all karaoke lovers should applaud their efforts.
Indeed, we certainly admire their contribution to the karaoke world.
The staff at Karaoke Info will always applaud those dedicated to keeping the world singing!
Indeed, we always encourage member interaction for truly independent opinions. So, if you have the discs or know about the people behind this label, let us know. Your input can help influence others!
Superstar Karaoke Discs
Here is a list of Superstar Karaoke disc ID numbers (prefixes) commonly used by karaoke jockeys (KJs). This list was originally a post on the Karaoke Forum a while back, but we firmly believe it is correct. So, unless we get other information to the contrary, the following discs are a complete collection and up-to-date:

Superstar Karaoke Review
With no staff having these karaoke discs, we decided to buy a few from the internet for reviewing purposes.
However, we couldn’t get hold of any for love or money when we looked. That was in contrast to the last time we checked, when there were a boatload of cheap discs for sale!
Not to be outdone on this one, a forum member stepped in and came to the rescue. He was able to visit us with a sample. That was the only way we could review the label.
Not to be outdone on this one, a forum member stepped in and came to the rescue. He was able to visit us with a sample. That was the only way we could review the label.
There were some excellent songs from some big-name artists on the samples. However, they didn’t impress us. While the MPX versions seemed to have a decent stereo sound, the non-MPX was mono. That was strange, considering the back cover says “Digital Stereo Sound”!
Since we lack information about this collection, we can only assume that the SKG9xx series is identical to the SKG5xx series after cancelling the guide vocals. If so, this is a shame. That is because you can’t beat a good stereo karaoke song.
The early splash screen on our samples was slow to show, but they look superb. However, the latter ones in the series display the song title with a red underline. They also have the company name below. Simple, but effective!
The on-screen lyrics matched the beat perfectly, while the backing music was decent.
Of course, on the CDGs and sleeves, there is usually a star. Although they are similar throughout, they are colourful and do look fine.
Karaoke Song Sample
Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is SKG909-02 – Toni Braxton – Unbreak My Heart.

We gave this collection 4 out of 5 in the rating system below. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.
Desirability Factor
These karaoke discs run in sequence, of course. So, grabbing a whole set would be fine for most casual users. Also, remember that avid collectors pay handsomely for complete collections. In this case, they will hold value.
Be that as it may, we think there are better discs to collect if you want to own a decent collection of karaoke CDGs.
To Sum Up
We were never sure whether this collection wanted to be known as Super Star Karaoke (with a hyphen). However, the name on the label quite clearly states Superstar Karaoke. So, we use this throughout this info and reviews page.
Our review might be marred because none of our team owned these discs and relied on others to supply them. However, we conducted the test as usual with the few we handled, and we couldn’t find a way to make the sound stereo. So, this killed off any enthusiastic recommendation from us.
Money is tight, so a good review may make collectors look for this collection. However, a bad one may make thrifty karaoke collectors look at other sets from a different producer. So, if you have these discs, let us know your opinions below. It may well be that we overlooked something.
Superstar Karaoke Songbook
Since you now have the Superstar Karaoke prefix numbers, it’s time to check the songbook.
The songbook shows songs from groups such as Abba and The Bee Gees. There are many other big-name groups and artists, of course.
In short, click the link below to view the songbooks. Our tracklists have all the songs from the list of discs above.

The disk SKG940R is the Tip Top disk TT6016 that Superstar reprinted.
Though it’s labelled as Superstar on the disk, front and back covers, the splash screen still says Tip Top
If this is the case, that’s one karaoke disc I would not want in my collection!
I actually like certain Superstar Karaoke tracks.
