StarDisc Karaoke Introduction

StarDisc Karaoke is responsible for 266 or so discs. They are no longer producing karaoke discs like most other labels.

In the noughties (2000s), there was far too much competition in the world of karaoke. However, to produce as many karaoke discs as this in that era was phenomenal.

These CDGs are from the karaoke heyday, and the firm made discs until the late 2000s. Now that is staying power! We list all the discs below and other information in the songbooks.

Of course, you can still buy their discs online on the second-hand market. Indeed, from what we saw, reasonable prices too. Read on for our information and reviews before you purchase these discs.

Disc Prefix

When we searched the internet, there were plenty of places to buy them, including Amazon, eBay, and Gumtree. However, no complete sets from the series were available during our search. Nonetheless, they will one day appear as a whole set because many others do.

Be that as it may, our list of karaoke disc ID numbers (prefixes) is the same as most karaoke jockeys (KJs) have in their songbooks. Indeed, we had so many lists sent in that were the same, so they can’t all be wrong!

Even the song lists were identical, well, almost! However, we sifted through all this a long time ago, and getting the lists in shape took a long time. But it was worth it.

The lists will remain the same because, as we said, StarDisc Karaoke doesn’t make CDGs anymore. That also applies to the list of discs and the songbook (see below).

Here is a list of the StarDisc Karaoke series’ complete with their prefix numbers. There are three distinct series:

  • SD0xx and SD1xx series are country music.
  • SD4xx series contains pop music.
  • SDK has children’s music.

StarDisc Karaoke Review

We didn’t know what to expect when we started our review of these discs. That is because none of the staff here at Karaoke Info had seen one of their discs before. However, we all got a pleasant surprise once the testing began.

StarDisc Karaoke - SD001 CDG Label.

The splash screen is simple but effective. You will see the label name and the song title. In some instances, the publisher and the starting key. Although the latter two were not too consistent.

Also, the last few discs the company made didn’t even have the star in the on-screen graphics. Maybe the company knew it was nearly time to hang up the mixer!

In general, the on-screen lyrics do the job and match the beat.

The words are big, but perhaps not as bold as they should be. No discs have guide vocals except the kids’ series, which had “I can read & I can sing” on their splash screens. The choice of backing music is excellent.

The artwork on the sleeves and discs is almost non-existent. Most are similar but coloured differently. However, as far as karaoke goes, they are reasonable and easily identifiable.

Karaoke Song Sample

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is SD4207-02 – Pink – Just Like A Pill.
