Starcaster Karaoke Introduction

Starcaster Karaoke (prefix KDS) is a re-branded version of some Music Maestro Karaoke (MM) discs. However, they do provide their very own labels. Be that as it may, the splash screen still shows the name of the mother label, MM.

All in all, there are nine discs in this series. Since these are MM duplications, we can’t see anyone breaking their neck to get them. Also, if you buy the MM Series, these will become dupes!

Of course, we review these CDGs below.

Starcaster Karaoke STARUK (KDSUK) - CDG Front Cover.

Before we start, we must say that each track on every CDG in this series has a non-vocal and a vocal version (guide vocals) of the same song.

Starcaster Karaoke Discs

Here is the list of Starcaster Karaoke disc ID numbers (prefixes). We publish the following list, which is similar to those in songbooks used by most karaoke jockeys (KJs):

  • KDSGPP1
  • KDSGPP2
  • KDSGPP3
  • KDS901
  • KDS902
  • KDS903
  • KDSUK1
  • KDSUK2
  • KDSUK3

Did Starcaster Karaoke “make” any more discs other than those above? We believe not, but if you know better, let us know.

Starcaster Karaoke Review

KDSGPP - Girls Pop Pack - CDG Front Cover.

Even though these tracks are duplications of the MM label, we still need to sample a few. Indeed, we need to report whether there are similarities to the parent label.

Of course, some other karaoke labels copied other manufacturers in the past. That is why we sample a song from each karaoke label.

Apart from a new label and CDG covers, there is no difference in the tracks themselves. Indeed, even the splash screen shows the MM logo.

Karaoke Song Sample

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is KDS901-04 – The Cardigans – Love Fool.

Our Verdict

  • On-screen Lyrics: 4
  • Music Content: 4
  • Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 3
  • Cover Art: 3.5
  • Overall Average: 3.6
  • Music And Lyrics Average: 4

We gave this collection 3 out of 5 in the rating system below because they are duplicates. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.

Desirability Factor

Firstly, we think there are better karaoke labels than Music Maestro. For that reason, we don’t recommend these discs. And they are duplicates!

Our staff can’t sample every track in this series, of course. So, if you have any of the discs, please leave a comment below. We want to know about the company responsible for these discs and why they decided on having a separate identity!

To Sum Up

The MM karaoke label was big. So the quality will be decent. Although, many KJs have said they would use MM discs after other preferences.

In effect, why would anyone want this set of CDG disks if they have a good collection of MM discs?

Apart from the different labels, we have nothing good to say about them. However, they could become collector’s items, especially if you have the whole set. Of course, if there are any other differences we can’t see, tell us all!

Starcaster Karaoke - KDS90 - Hits Of The 90s CDG Back Cover.

Although these discs are dupes, they still have some decent songs. For example, they have tracks from ABBA to Cher and Dido to Oasis.

This small set might appeal to the casual buyer who does not want a complete collection of the MM series. If you come across a whole set, they may command a handsome sum from the right collector. Other than that, we can’t see any point in owning them!

Why even bother to list this set of crap karaoke dupes? If I could give a minus score, I would!
