Star Tracks Karaoke Introduction
Here, we have a set of 6 Multiplex discs from Star Tracks Karaoke. In brief, karaoke discs that utilise Multiplex or MPX have the guide vocals on the right channel. However, turning off the guide vocals is easy with a suitable karaoke player.
This series dates back to the late nineties, during the karaoke heyday. Because this set of karaoke discs is small, it is in demand from enthusiastic collectors. But you only want to know how they perform to help with purchasing decisions. So, let’s move on to the other information and reviews.

Different Prefixes
Some karaoke jockeys (KJs) list these disc ID numbers logged in their songbooks slightly different to others. In short, some use the ST prefix, and some use what is on the disc, TSG. The disc ID does not affect the karaoke singer who uses the KJ songbooks. That is because karaoke jockeys usually arrange their songbooks in alphabetical order. Most KJ songbooks show the song title or artist first.
Since there was no uniform way that KJs listed these CDGs, we put both prefix numbers in the list for convenience:
Star Tracks Karaoke Discs
- ST2601 (AKA TSG2601)
- ST2602 (AKA TSG2602)
- ST2603 (AKA TSG2603)
- ST2604 (AKA TSG2604)
- ST2605 (AKA TSG2605)
- ST2606 (AKA TSG2606)
Star Tracks Karaoke Review
The staff here at Karaoke Info, just like avid collectors, love to see small sets of CDGs from different manufacturers. The smaller labels can throw up a surprise or two. Indeed, we have seen surprises in past reviews.
In this case, these discs didn’t impress our reviewing staff members. We sampled a few tracks to give them a chance. But we couldn’t get too excited about these, and soon after, we gave up.

Our sample tracks started with the on-screen graphics unfurling the song title from the middle of the screen. The splash screen was painfully slow, but it was a decent image showing the artist and the maker’s name. It’s a shame that the complete picture didn’t show for over six seconds before the music kicked in after 12 seconds!
We tested the songs in stereo first using the multiplex feature. That was with the guide vocals playing. We found the guide vocals drowned out the music.
After flicking to the left channel to eliminate the accompanying singer, the music was not as good as we would have liked. We found the sounds over-saturated at times and sometimes a little shrill.
Be that as it may, we did give these discs a good chance. But apart from the on-screen lyrics matching the beat, they had little to offer our reviewers. The CDGs have the same artwork that shows the disc number, a microphone and a hand!
Karaoke Song Sample
Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is ST2606-06 – Simon & Garfunkel (MPX) (With Guide Vocals) – Sound Of Silence.

Desirability Factor
For collecting purposes, they are unique. So they are ideal for being part of a collection. However, for the casual collector looking for value, look elsewhere. If you want the guide vocals, they are ideal, of course. But some people don’t like that arrangement. Indeed, switching off the guide vocals can become a pain for some.
To Sum Up
As shown above, we have a small set of karaoke discs that may be hard to acquire.
Over time, these discs will become rarer, and a karaoke collector may pay a high price if they are in good condition.
Indeed, if you have them, how useful are these discs and would you recommend them to karaoke disc collectors?
Should you have these discs, consider writing a review about them to balance our opinions or back them up!

Although Star Tracks Karaoke does not produce CDGs now, we did find a few of these discs scattered around the internet for sale. However, the ones we saw were pretty expensive. Considering our review wasn’t favourable, we felt they were not worth it.

Full house!
I gave a five-star rating to this collection as I think their effort was excellent. The opening splash screen was slightly slow, but I have no issues with these karaoke discs.
