Standing Ovation Karaoke Introduction
The Standing Ovation Karaoke series is identical to some Backstage Karaoke discs. In our list of discs below, we highlight their AKA prefix numbers.
We are unsure how many more clones we will encounter, but here is another.
Like the Sound Images label we reviewed today, this label duplicates tracks from the BS catalogue. They have the same tracks on the discs and the same running order. However, they do have different logos, labels and splash screens.
Unique Identity?
Because this series looks like it wants a unique identity, it qualifies for an info and reviews page. Indeed, with these karaoke CDGs featuring songs from The Doors to Eric Clapton and Roy Orbison to Rod Stewart, Standing Ovation was very selective.
To the enthusiastic karaoke disc collector, this set is decent enough. But not for those who do not want too many dupes in their collection. With this in mind, if you are collecting as many Backstage discs as possible, this small collection of discs is not for you.
Below is a list of Standing Ovation Karaoke disc ID numbers (prefixes). We publish them as most karaoke jockeys (KJs) would in their songbooks. We also list their equivalent BS disc ID numbers. So, use the first set of numbers prefixed with ‘SO’ for this Sound Ovation Karaoke series:

Standing Ovation Karaoke Review
Because this small collection of discs is a BS clone, we can’t be overly excited about giving them a review. However, we must sample a few to check for any differences.
As expected, the choice of backing music was decent. Indeed, we have no problems with that side of things.
The splash screen shows the label name in a rather unimaginative rectangle box in the screen’s top left corner. That then flicks over to the title of the karaoke song and into the introduction music.
At the end of the track, the logo shows on the top right of the screen. The on-screen lyrics are big and bold, but we feel they lag slightly.
A good karaoke player can correct the lag, of course. Indeed, the more features your karaoke player has, the better the result.
Karaoke Song Sample
Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is SO204-06 – Rod Stewart – Hot Legs.

Desirability Factor
You should avoid these karaoke discs if you are collecting the Backstage discs. However, if they are dirt cheap and you are a casual user, why not? After all, a bargain is a bargain!
We can’t possibly test every track, so if you have any of these discs, leave us your opinions. When you do this, you are helping future karaoke disc collectors.
To Sum Up
All the staff here agree that all karaoke producers deserve praise. However, because these discs are clones of the BS label, we wouldn’t recommend them.
That is because most people want fewer dupes in their karaoke collection. After all, you will have duplications from many other karaoke makers. Also, this collection is not the best on the music shelves!
So, if you are paying good money for BS discs, what would be the point of this collection?
Of course, this set would appeal to an avid karaoke disc collector because of its unique label and splash screens. Indeed, we already know a few who do this because of slight differences.
Neither Standing Ovation nor the parent company doesn’t produce any karaoke tracks now, so the only way you will get any is on the second-hand market.
We have seen many of these advertised on Amazon and eBay, but, as ever, spend your money wisely. Once you find a seller, please ensure that their used discs are in reasonable condition. That is because badly abused CDGs will suffer all sorts of problems.
If you don’t plan to buy the BS discs, they would be fine for the casual collector. But there are better alternatives out there.
