Sound Choice Karaoke Introduction
Sound Choice is one of the biggest names ever in the karaoke world. Indeed, the label and back catalogue are massive.
Due to its respect within the industry, the label needs no introduction whatsoever. This karaoke label has a superb reputation, and you can buy these discs without any worry about their quality.
Before we move on, you should understand the new strict licensing restrictions for Sound Choice Karaoke.
This is concerning “media shifting.” It is probably most important for our American friends to take note of the new arrangements. We have an article about the subject here. Those new arrangements also apply if you have any Chartbusters CDGs.
Gathering The Data
Due to the massive amounts of karaoke discs released by Sound Choice, the artists they covered are immense. Moreover, the song titles released are never-ending. Indeed, they cover all music genres possible.
There are also many unique tracks in the Sound Choice series.
Since we originally wrote this article in 2014, Sound Choice has ceased making karaoke discs. With this in mind, we believe we have the complete catalogue available.
We consistently amend our data from time to time. But, because our Sound Choice lists are comprehensive, there will be very few changes to the disc identities or the songbooks. Of course, we will update all the karaoke information should we come across other discs in the Sound Choice range.
We invited members to send more information about the label so we could collect more data. Furthermore, we asked karaoke jockeys (KJs) to send us their disc prefix numbers and songbooks. Then, it took around six months to put together a songbook. You can now download it (see below).
To clarify, here is a complete list of all the karaoke discs from the Sound Choice catalogue:

Sound Choice Karaoke Review
With so many tracks to sample from this massive label, how do you pick and choose?
We test a few because we do this on all the karaoke labels. After some deliberation, we plucked out several tracks at random.
We already knew what to expect, of course. That is because most of the staff at Karaoke Info are in semi-retirement.
With this in mind, we have a decent collection of discs amassed between us, of course.
Despite this, we found that the Sunfly series is more convenient when gigging. However, we have no problems reaching for any Sound Choice karaoke disc when convenient.
The opening splash screen always shows the Sound Choice Karaoke logo. That is the company name handwritten across a music staff. The pleasing thing about the opening on-screen graphics is that the song title is bold. But you will see various versions, perhaps to capture the genre of music it represents. Then there is “in the style of (artist).”
This well-respected karaoke label uses top-notch backing music. The on-screen lyrics were big and bold and generally matched the beat. We have no trouble at all in recommending you buy this label!
Karaoke Song Sample
Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is SC2079-05 – Petula Clark – Downtown.
Our Verdict
- On-screen Lyrics: 4.5
- Music Content: 4.5
- Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 4.5
- Cover Art: 4.5
- Overall Average: 4.5
- Music And Lyrics Average: 4.5
We gave this collection 5 out of 5 in the rating system below. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.
Desirability Factor
Who wouldn’t want an entire collection of karaoke discs from this label? If you can avoid too many duplications, this label is one of the best.
We can’t possibly test every track from this huge label, so if you have any experience with these discs, please leave us a comment or two.
To Sum Up
You can now see that the back catalogue for this label is massive. Consequently, Sound Choice became one of the best-known and best-loved karaoke labels ever.
Without a doubt, karaoke collectors can buy these discs, knowing that the quality is unquestionable.
Also, because this label is so large, the second-hand market still has plenty of them. Therefore, it is easy to buy them on the Internet market.
On the negative side, Sound Choice doesn’t make karaoke discs anymore. The company ran its course and then closed the doors on manufacturing them. However, the name still lives on, and who knows what the future holds.
The first thing to remember is that Sound Choice and Chartbuster Karaoke are now in the same bed together. The owners of both of these karaoke labels still hold the rights to all the tracks. They can sue people who don’t play the game, even if people have bought and still own the physical disc.
However, this can only happen if you operate your gigs using a laptop or a hard drive. In other words, you register with them first if you rip the CDGs to your computer or laptop. Read this article (link above). If you have a disc-based system, you can do what you like with the discs. In other words, there is no need to register them!
A Sad End
Ultimately, it’s sad when a karaoke label bites the dust. In this case, many people were shocked once the decision came about to suspend the business.
However, the staff here at Karaoke Info don’t know any KJ that owns many of these discs. Indeed, we only found a few people who use Sound Choice CDGs. Even then, they only had a few discs!
That could be because most KJs in our circle rely on Sunfly and our favourite, Zoom.
Since most Karaoke Info staff are from the UK, this may be the reason for that. In America, the situation might be different. With this in mind, maybe we could find out what karaoke label is the label of choice in other parts of the world. In other words, a geographical karaoke table.
Although this label has a pedigree, we would still love some feedback. Indeed, your opinions on Sound Choice, positive or negative, would help future karaoke disc collectors. Of course, every brand has its pluses and minuses. Indeed, you can highlight these here.

Official Review By Jacky: Sound Choice Karaoke
Hi, my name is Jacky, and I conducted the original karaoke review above. Whether you agree or disagree, you can leave your review below.
The best better than all manufacturers
Use all manufacturers disks people always ask for a sound choice version
Prime example!
This is a prime example of how karaoke should be!
Nice collection, but I'll stick with Sunfly for my gigs.
Sound Choice Karaoke is not bad. In fact, I gave them five stars! However, collecting these would cost me a fortune, as I own stacks of Sunfly discs. I have many other makers, too, but it would make no sense for me to start collecting these discs. I do have the odd one, though. Well, I had to try them!
I like Sound Choice.
This company is consistent.

You list the SC7725 and SC7727 disks as not confirmed. I have them. I can provide jpgs for the front, back, and discs.
Also, there is an entire set of Performer’s Choice discs labelled PC77xx; many of those are duplicate numbers of the SC77xx disks, but the PC77xx disks are 4 + 4 disks, as opposed to the 6 + 6 disks of the SC77xx series.
The following disk numbers in the spotlight series are phantoms and should be marked with an asterisk: 8913, 8929, 8938, 8940, 9855, 8960, 8972, 8973, 8975, 8977, 8978, 8980, 8981, 9020, 9503, 9504, and 9506.
In addition, Sound Choice have numerous R (revised) versions. There are mainly in the Spotlight, Star, and Power Picks series, which have one or more different tracks than the original releases.
Thanks – we have adjusted the SC7725 and SC7727. What are phantoms?
