Rare Cuts Karaoke Introduction

The Rare Cuts Karaoke collection is another small label releasing just seven CDGs. This set comes from the karaoke heydays, and we are ready to put them to the test.

As the label name suggests, this company dealt with hard-to-find karaoke tracks. However, that was then. So, most karaoke tracks will be available on other labels now.

Generally speaking, having the same song in your collection multiple times is not very good. Indeed, the karaoke disc collector spends lots of cash needlessly collecting dupes!

Rare Cuts Karaoke RC6901 - CDG Disc Label.

For those who specialise in hard-to-find karaoke labels, this collection will please. However, we found no trace of these discs on the Internet. So, we do not know whether they will be cheap or expensive to buy on the second-hand market. If you find the whole set, they will hold their value. They will also be a valuable asset to your karaoke collection.

To clarify, here are the prefixes for the seven Rare Cuts Karaoke discs:

RC6907 CDG Disc.

The dark blue splash screen slides in from the left. That action reveals the company’s name and logo. The logo is a diamond, which is appropriate to the label name.

You also get the artist and the song title. The end screen slides up to reveal the songwriters and publishers.

For the lyrics, you get a black screen with red words. The on-screen lyrics change to yellow as the music progresses. The wording fills the screen and is perfectly legible.

The choice of backing music is excellent, and the on-screen lyrics sync impeccably. Our samples had no lag, and some were slightly forward, which is perfect.

We tested these discs at a friend’s house. So, we examined the CDGs themselves. They were typical CDs with the company logo and song list.

Karaoke Song Sample

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is RC6904-13 – Spin Doctors – Two Princes.

Our Verdict

  • On-screen Lyrics: 4.5
  • Music Content: 4.5
  • Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 4.5
  • Cover Art: 4
  • Overall Average: 4.4
  • Music And Lyrics Average: 4.5

We gave this collection 5 out of 5 in the rating system below because they stood out in the crowd. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.

Desirability Factor

During the late nineties (1990s) and early noughties (2000s), the karaoke market became saturated with CDGs. However, most karaoke jockeys (KJs) and home users usually stick by the big-name brands at the time.

None of the Karaoke Info staff had ever heard of this label. So, testing these CDGs was a mouthwatering prospect. Indeed, the splash screen says “Top Quality, Hard-to-Find Karaoke.” So, were they blowing their own trumpet?

Although you can get most of the tracks on these discs on other karaoke labels now, the effort from Rare Cuts was not in vain. The sample tracks we tested were acceptable for gigs or home use. Indeed, they would grace your collection and hold their value among true collectors.

To Sum Up

We found no trace of these discs on the Internet. So, we do not know whether they will be cheap or expensive to buy on the second-hand market. If you find the whole set of discs above, buy them because they will undoubtedly add value to your collection.

The cost will depend upon the condition of the karaoke discs, of course. But good luck if you do stumble upon them. There are karaoke disc collectors who are just too willing to pay top prices for these!

Our team can’t possibly test every track on these discs, so if you have any experience with them, leave a comment or two below. Should you do this, you will be helping future karaoke disc collectors. We are particularly looking for views about the musical quality and the quality of the on-screen graphics. Your opinion matters!
