Protrax Karaoke Introduction
This info and reviews page is for a small collection of 14 CDGs from Protrax Karaoke. They have a unique label, and because of that, they are ripe for collecting. But you want to know how they perform, of course.

Indeed, many people in the karaoke world like this Protrax Series. Moreover, karaoke jockeys (KJs) have no problems using them at their gigs.
So, you may have already sung along to them at your local karaoke club! Therefore, before you read the other information and reviews for this collection of discs, you can see that this series is worth collecting already!
On the disc is the company name, I-ko Leisure. However, we can provide no further information about the makers. So, any input from you will be welcome. For example, where was their base, and did they produce other CDGs?
Second-hand Bargains
The Protrax label was a good brand. They come from the karaoke heyday. That was when there was a glut of CDGs hitting the marketplace. That was possibly around the mid-noughties (the 2000s). It’s a shame that the label stopped producing, but this was the norm for this period. Therefore, these discs are only available on the second-hand market.
These CDGs are usually relatively cheap on the second-hand market, and we saw many bargains. Indeed, we saw a complete set of these go for £36 ($56 US) on eBay UK in May 2013. Even then, the seller described the backing tracks as “awesome.” As previously noted, many others think the same.

Because Protrax Karaoke only made 14 discs, we compiled a list of their discs with ease. Also, a complete song list was easy to put together (see below for the songbook).

Protrax Karaoke Review
Most of the Karaoke Info team has some, if not all, of these discs in their collections. We can’t speak highly of them. Therefore, doing a Protrax review was a pleasure.
The splash screens are big and bold. They show “Protrax presents (song title), but you may get the writers and publishers appearing at the end.
The on-screen lyrics can be a mixture of colours shown on a blue screen. They keep impeccable timing. Indeed, we never found any that lagged.
The choice of backing music is perfect across the entire collection.
We liked the cartoon artwork on the sleeves. They are appropriate to the disc contents.
The CDGs themselves are pretty much standard. However, they have the disc name and the prefix number.
We can’t possibly test every track on these discs, so if you have any discs in this series, please leave a comment or two. Indeed, by doing this, you are helping future karaoke disc collectors.

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is PX08-03 – The Kinks – Sunny Afternoon.

Desirability Factor
Having a complete collection from Prothorax will not cost you too much. We like these karaoke discs very much and can thoroughly recommend them. They are highly desirable as a collection.
To Sum Up
You will know most big-name karaoke manufacturers, such as Sunfly or Zoom. But some smaller labels are well worth it if you can find them, and Protrax is one such label.
Of course, the chances are that if you have a complete collection from one of the more well-known karaoke labels, you will probably have the tracks on these discs.
Be that as it may, if you are just a casual karaoke buyer, use the Protrax songbook to cross-reference the tracks to avoid dupes.
Protrax Karaoke will knock you off your feet!
One KJ tells us he lists his discs with an extra zero, like this PX001. However, the actual disc prefix numbers are only four digits long. Most were happy enough to recommend the Protrax Karaoke Series, too. With this in mind, we can safely say that buying these discs should not be a gamble.
