Pioneer Karaoke Introduction
The Pioneer Karaoke brand no longer makes CDGs but was one of the leaders in its heyday. Of course, once the karaoke bubble burst, most producers ceased making discs.
However, Pioneer karaoke discs are still available, in abundance, on the second-hand market.
Pioneer Karaoke was a leader in the field, making the newer CDGs (Compact Disc with Graphics). However, they also made older laser karaoke discs. Because of this, their back catalogue is a reasonable size.
Be that as it may, it’s how they perform that matters. So, are Pioneer Karaoke discs worth buying?
Generally speaking, the Pioneer name is massive. Indeed, its electronic products have a reputation for producing quality goods. Their products are reliable, too. But how well do their karaoke discs play?
We asked for information on this karaoke label, and members gave us a lot of information. We had so many lists to sift through, and it took at least three months to sort. But we did compile a comprehensive list of discs. We also have a massive Pioneer Karaoke songbook, too. Thanks go out to those members who sent in their lists.

You may download the disc list, but only members can access the songbook below.
Disc Variants
There are a lot more discs that could be on the list. For example, there are variations in the core disc collection. In other words, some may have the letter R or S at the end. However, we are only listing the core disc identity right now. But, there are references to the variants in the song list.
The variants occur when a track has to come off the original disc. Indeed, this may happen because of licensing issues. In this case, they may add a replacement track to the disc. But sometimes, they might not replace the karaoke track at all. This is why some discs have additional letters in the disc ID (prefix).
Being only available on the second-hand market, eBay and Amazon are the best places to look for them. But you may be lucky and see a new, sealed disc. Either way, ensure that the discs are in good condition. Ask before you buy!
Pioneer Karaoke Review
The familiar bird with a microphone greets you on the splash screen with these Pioneer Karaoke discs.
The opening screen isn’t unpleasant at all. It proudly pronounces “Pioneer – The Art Of Entertainment.”
The light blue background also shows the song title and the writers.
The lyrics have a light blue backdrop. Of course, these on-screen graphics are unique.
Indeed, you can recognise the label by this arrangement alone. You will see one line of lyrics on both the top and bottom of the screen.
Our samples gave us white words that changed to orange as the song progressed. The backing music was fair enough and synced well with the lyrics. The end screen showed the title, writers, and publishers.
The CDGs and sleeves were decent enough but were more formal. However, some showed the bird and mic logo standing on a disc.
Karaoke Song Sample
Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is PI206-14 – Skeeter Davis – End Of The World.

Desirability Factor
The Pioneer collection of karaoke discs is good enough for gigging or home use. Furthermore, we have no problem recommending them. Indeed, having a complete collection would be fantastic.
Your Feedback Is Welcome
This page is about the Pioneer CDGs, but the firm also made LaserDiscs. Of course, we review those separately here.
Do you possess any Pioneer Karaoke discs? Indeed, have you ever played any of these discs at karaoke gigs or at home?
We would like to know what you think about the quality of the discs. For instance, do you agree with our assessment?
Since Pioneer stopped making karaoke discs and considering their age, collectors should find them pretty cheap on the second-hand market.
However, with our review and feedback from you, collectors will know if they should look for them with their hard-earned cash.
Indeed, one of our aims is to help karaoke collectors buy quality discs while saving money. So, over to you.
