Omnibus Karaoke Introduction
Here is a relatively small label from Omnibus Karaoke. They made a few English discs, and we examine them below.
On their jewel boxes, it reads, “Omnibus records and tapes.” Since when did shops last sell karaoke tapes?
Some also have Arbiter displayed on their labels. Furthermore, you may see “All recordings are licensed from Essential Karaoke Limited.” Indeed, some may show that on the splash screens, too.
These discs come from the late nineties and early noughties (2000s). However, the firm has not made any more karaoke discs since.
Unique Identity?
Of course, the Omnibus Karaoke label has a unique identity. Some Omnibus discs have 20 tracks, some have 18, and some have 16. Indeed, those are the ones that have guide vocals. However, some discs come without vocal tracks and just a handful of songs.

Omnibus Karaoke Review
The independent Omnibus discs have their very own splash screen. Because of that, they are a collector’s dream, of course. Our samples proved the music was decent, with on-screen lyrics syncing well.
The splash screens for the original Omnibus tracks have a small musical note logo in the top left. These also show if they are the backing tracks or have guide vocals in the top right corner of the screen. We have only ever seen that information in the Open Mic series. The opening info screens also show the songwriters.
The on-screen lyrics are white on a blue screen and are perfectly legible. As the music progresses, the wording turns green. However, there is a noticeable lag. In other words, they don’t sync to the beat as well as they should.
The artwork on the sleeves is different and may show “Kidz Biz.” The CDG art shows that these are fun karaoke discs.
Karaoke Song Sample
Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is OM23450-12 – Queen – Another One Bites The Dust.
Our Verdict
- On-screen Lyrics: 3
- Music Content: 4
- Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 3
- Cover Art: 4
- Overall Average: 3.5
- Music And Lyrics Average: 3.5
We gave this collection 3 out of 5 in the rating system below. That was because of the slight lag with the on-screen lyrics. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.
Desirability Factor
These discs originate in the early 1990s, as shown on the labels. They are desirable only if you are an avid collector. That is because of their connection to the Essential label.
We cannot possibly sample every track in this collection, so this is where you step in. If you have any of these discs, you can help future karaoke collectors by leaving your opinions about them.
To Sum Up
We do know that Omnibus made discs in another language. So, perhaps the gaps in this series are Latin ones? Do you know more about the firm behind these discs? If so, let us know.
Likewise, we would like to know if you have any English discs missing from our list. Should you have any of these Omnibus Karaoke discs, consider giving us your opinions.
Commenting here will help others before they invest in this rare label, should they come across it, of course!
Indeed, we call them rare because of their original labels and the release date. With this in mind, they have uniqueness. It’s the originality that makes them collectable, of course. However, the tracks may be available on the Easy-Essential Karaoke label.
Omnibus Karaoke Songbook
