Megavox Karaoke Series

The Megavox Karaoke label is a collection of six discs to boast about.

However, we appreciate all karaoke. That is because, without the efforts of karaoke makers, our world would not be as good.

With this in mind, the Megavox Karaoke series has contributed to our community, too. Hence, their information page is here at Karaoke Info.

So, we thank the people behind the firm that brought us this unique set.

Megavox Karaoke MVUK002 - Front Cover.

Karaoke Info asked members to send their disc identities (prefixes) and songbooks. We got many surprises in return. Indeed, the Megavox Karaoke Series was one such surprise. That is because none of the staff had ever heard of it.

To clarify, here is a list of Megavox disc ID numbers (prefixes):

Megavox Karaoke Discs

Megahits UK Karaoke:

  • MVUK001
  • MVUK002

Megavox MV20xx:

  • MV2001
  • MV2002
  • MV2003
  • MV2004

Odd Disc:

  • MV001

** We also believe that Megavox supplied utility discs. For example, a disc containing bingo games. There could be other utilities for gigs, such as quiz night discs. Can you shed light on this?

Megavox Karaoke Review

Megavox Karaoke Disc - MV2003.

It’s a shame we only get a handful of CDGs from Megavox because the on-screen graphic images are fantastic. Let’s continue for the full review.

The splash screens are unique, big, bold, and colourful. The UK karaoke discs show the initials as the Union Jack flag. There is also an image of Britain in green with Mega Hits below. Finally, there is the song title. When the song ends, there’s an image of the British Isles again with more information. For example, the writers and publishers.

MV2002, MV2003, and MV2004 show 2002 BC, 2003 BC, and 2003 BC, respectively. They also display an image of a caveman. MV2001 shows Stonehenge. During musical intervals, you will see other graphics. Those are all different, but every one of them is gorgeous.

The blue screen displays yellow lyrics. Those lyrics turn pink as the music progresses. However, on odd occasions, there is a slight lag. But that’s the staff here, just looking to be picky! The choice of background music is excellent.

The artwork on the covers matches the on-screen graphics. So they are brilliant too.

Karaoke Song Sample

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is MVUK001-01 – Pulp – Common People.

Our Verdict

  • On-screen Lyrics: 4.5
  • Music Content: 4.5
  • Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 5
  • Cover Art: 5
  • Overall Average: 4.75
  • Music And Lyrics Average: 4.5

We gave this collection 5 out of 5 in the rating system below. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.

Desirability Factor

Our samples showed plenty of graphical content during the music breaks, and the lyrics filled the screen. Who else has a disc with The Pointer Sisters‘ ‘Slow Hand’ and the Sex Pistols‘ ‘Anarchy In The UK’ on it?

We can’t possibly sample every karaoke track, of course. So, if you have any of these discs, please tell us what you think. You will be helping other karaoke collectors because your opinion matters!

As for collecting the physical discs, remember that they are pretty rare, and we couldn’t source any. So, good luck if you want to add these discs to your collection. We thoroughly recommend them for both gigging and home use.

To Sum Up

This small collection is a collector’s dream because it is a small, unique set. Not only do they have their very own cover art, but they also have their very own splash screens and plenty of artwork.

Although we don’t recommend them for gigging, we think they have value among collectors.

If you have any of these karaoke discs, why not dust them down and let us know what you think? Also, why not record one of you singing with them for our showcase?

Cartoon male singer with a microphone and musical notes.

Also, let us know if you have other Megavox Karaoke CDGs that are not on our list. We will add them to our list once we verify the information. So please try sending us an image of a label. That is because we need to see some physical identity.

Megavox Karaoke Songbook

We have identified the discs by Megavox Karaoke. So now you’ll need the song list from them. Indeed, we managed to compile this too. So, click the link below to inspect or download the Megavox Karaoke songbook.
