MasterTone Karaoke Introduction

On this page, we have details of nine discs from MasterTone Karaoke. The splash screen on these karaoke tracks says “MasterTone Multimedia”, and “Licensed By TRC Music The Netherlands”.

When we shout out for information about various karaoke makers, we usually get some decent information to get our teeth into, and this series was no different.

Our search to buy a few discs threw up a blank. However, we did get hold of a physical disc. Therefore, we have listened to the odd track for reviewing purposes. We can confirm the splash screen details and similar information on the disc sleeves.

Mastertone doesn’t make karaoke discs now.

Indeed, the ones we list all come from the karaoke heyday of 1995. Do you have more information about MasterTone Karaoke or any labels for us to examine?

To clarify things, here are the disc identities for this particular collection of CDGs:

MasterTone Karaoke Review

The splash screen reveals plenty of information, such as the company name and licence details. It also shows the song title, “Made Famous by (Artist),” as well as the writers and publishers. With all that information on the first screen, there is no need for further details at the end.

The blue screen that shows the white lyrics is fine, and the word font makes it easily legible. The wording turns red as the music progresses, but there is a slight lag.

The choice of backing music is decent enough. However, we could only sample a few of these karaoke tracks, so we welcome anyone to send us their impressions of this collection.

The artwork on the sleeves is decent, with a picture of a large microphone. However, the CDG is rather bland. They resemble traditional music CDs. If you have any of these CDGs, please let us know.

Karaoke Song Sample

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is MT5023-03 – Chris de Burgh – The Lady In Red.

Our Verdict

  • On-screen Lyrics: 3.5
  • Music Content: 4
  • Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 3.5
  • Cover Art: 3
  • Overall Average: 3.6
  • Music And Lyrics Average: 3.75

You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.

Lady In Red is a song on Mater Tone.

Desirability Factor

Our sample track gave us a decent sound, and we class this collection as ‘average’. However, we have only a little information about this collection. We couldn’t find many for sale. Therefore, we can’t say whether they sold well in their time.

Each disc has a vocal track to accompany the original karaoke song. These guide vocals are Multiplex (MPX), but you can switch off the singer with a suitable machine. However, this would make the track mono. For more information about MPX karaoke songs, read this article.

Because these discs have a mixture of vocal accompaniment and traditional instrumental karaoke, you will have fewer songs to sing. In other words, if the disc has sixteen karaoke tracks, only eight will be unique.

We can’t possibly sample every track, of course. If you have ever played any of these discs or tracks, please give us a review. Your comments about these may help other karaoke collectors. That is because your opinion matters!

To Sum Up

MasterTone Karaoke - MM 5070 - MT5070 Disc.

In the above list, there are a few gaps in this collection. So, possibly MT5025, MT5028, MT5029 and others are available, but the list we received didn’t include those discs.

Also, we found no reference to this series anywhere on the web. That is where you can help us all out because, at Karaoke Info, we aim to provide as much information as possible.

All in all, your opinions about the quality of the MasterTone Karaoke discs count. Also, can you help confirm whether they were a commercial success? This would be helpful, too.

Because the splash screens show MasterTone and not Master Tone with a gap, we assume there should not be a gap in the name! That is not a big issue, but we need to clarify these details while we are on the subject.
