Magic Tracks Plus Karaoke Introduction
Magic Tracks Plus Karaoke is a Super CD+G disc with over 1200 songs. However, you can’t play these discs with a traditional karaoke player. Indeed, you will need a CAVS player to play them. But you can play them on a PC with a DVD ROM drive.
This disc comes from Sweet Georgia Brown Karaoke (SGB), but the tracks have a unique splash screen. Not only that, but there are 1208 tracks on the disk. That entitles this ‘series’ to its very own Karaoke Info page.
We found the Magic Tracks Super CD Karaoke disc in many places while surfing the internet. That was with a quick search, so you should find yourself if needed. The prices ranged from $15 to over $100! In this case, that equates to £9.40 and £65.00, respectively (2014 price).
However, we feel those silly prices are way too high. There are plenty of karaoke tracks on them, but the higher-priced disc had an unacceptable price tag. We recommend paying no more than the price of a normal CDG.
Because Sweet Georgia Brown released this Super CD, all these tracks are from their main series. In other words, all the original 68 discs are on one disc! So, to avoid dupes, we recommend you buy one or the other, but not both.
Also, remember that this SCDG will not play with ordinary karaoke players. That is because Super CDGs use DVDs (sounds stupid, we know). Of course, CDs and DVDs are not compatible formats.
There are many different types of karaoke formats available, and not all are compatible with each other. However, we have more detailed information about the various karaoke formats here.
Compromising Quality
Another point to remember is that they squeezed over 1200 songs onto this single disc. With this in mind, the quality can’t be as good as a normal CDG. That is because, usually, you will get 18 high-quality recordings per CGD. However, by cramming 1200 songs onto a disc, the bitrate suffers.
In other words, compromising quality means they can fit more tracks on the disc.
So, although they will sound reasonably decent, their bitrate can’t be as high as that of a traditional karaoke disc.
Since Karaoke Info always promotes high-quality karaoke sound systems, we wouldn’t recommend them for gigs. But they do have their uses, and if you use these sorts of discs, why not tell us about your experiences with them?

Magic Tracks Plus Karaoke Review
Even though these karaoke songs come from SGB, they have unique splash screens. However, they are not as good as the originals. The splash screen formula is the same throughout but not as colourful.
The blue screen has the song title “in the style of” followed by the artist. The name of the karaoke label is at the bottom, with a few stars acting as a logo.
The yellow lyrics turn red on a black screen as the music progresses. The on-screen lyrics synced impeccably with the music. As with SGB, there is an odd graphic image during the instrumental bits.
The choice of backing music is fine, but the bitrate is lower than a traditional CDG.
However, for general home use, this is not an issue. Neither will it be too much of a problem while gigging, because alcohol will be a deciding factor! In other words, the sounds are decent, but if you want fine detail, use traditional CDGs.
The artwork for the disc cover is terrible, while the Super CD looks plain.

Desirability Factor
Since all these songs are SGB duplications, they do have a sort of pedigree. However, the SGB discs are just average, so these get a similar rating.
Our verdict is that if you have the machine to play this disc and you don’t want to collect the SGB collection, then it will be fine. However, if you prefer traditional karaoke discs, try to find the SGB set because you will not need this disc.
To Sum Up
You can see in the image above that the Magic Tracks Plus Karaoke Super CD has Sweet Georgia Brown on the label. Also, the Super CD will not play on traditional karaoke players. So, you will need a CAVS machine or media player on your PC to play it.
Also, remember that the tracks on this special disc are of a poorer bitrate than the high-quality discs. Of course, all the tracks on this disc are SGB dupes!
