Legends Karaoke Introduction

Not many labels can boast about the number of discs released, as Legends Karaoke can. Indeed, only the main series has 247 discs.

Therefore, this label has a mid-to-large catalogue. However, the Legends Karaoke firm does not produce karaoke anymore. Be that as it may, many karaoke jockeys (KJs) use these at their gigs because of their popularity.

In the karaoke scene, most people are aware of this label. But how do they perform? See below for further information.

Legends Karaoke - LG005 Disc.

Because Legends Karaoke is no longer in production, there is a need to upgrade the whole label. Indeed, with so many dupes, this is necessary. For example, the label has three songs by Tom Jones (It’s Not Unusual). Of course, there are other examples.

We can now change karaoke disc versions to digital using the manufacturer’s coded prefix numbers. Therefore, we eliminate duplicate songs. The Legends label now has a digital songbook. So, to remove duplicate karaoke songs from your player, the digital version works better.

Longevity Of The Company

Because Legends Karaoke made so many discs, logic says they couldn’t have been that bad. For instance, if they were not selling well, they would have gone bust, like the other karaoke firms at the time. However, they kept going and produced many series.

Legends Karaoke Series. The main Green logo.

So this suggests that the discs were selling well. Moreover, the list below shows that Legends Karaoke has left its mark on the karaoke world.

However, karaoke disc collectors wishing to avoid dupes should carefully check the lists. For example, the Bassline tracks are in the main series.

Also, the disco karaoke set is from the main series, too. With this in mind, is it worth buying all the Legends Karaoke discs? That is down to your requirements, of course.

Compiling The Data

We asked many karaoke Jockeys (KJs) to send us their songbooks to help compile our lists. As previously noted, many KJs use these Legends Karaoke discs. As a result, we had so many files to sift through. However, because most KJs listed the same way, they were easy to sort out. Moreover, because Legends is no longer making karaoke discs, the lists below will not change.

So, what we have is a comprehensive disc catalogue. Also, we have a complete songbook to accompany the discs. Indeed, the song list is over 58 pages long. On the whole, not many karaoke companies can boast that. Therefore, this firm was legendary in itself!

There are numerous series from Legends Karaoke, and we list them as follows:

  • LG: Legends Main Series
  • BL: Legends Bassline Series
  • LGB: Legends Broadway Series
  • LGDP: Legends Disco Series
  • LGGLD: Legends Gold Series
  • LIC: Legends In Concert Series
  • LGRG: Legends Reggae Series
  • LGTP: Legends Teen Pack
  • LGUP: Legends Ultimate Party

Legends Karaoke Discs

To clarify, we have made a comprehensive list of disc IDs from the Legends Karaoke Series’:

The splash screens are a bright yellow with the company name and part of their logo. It’s such a shame that their star in the circle image is not as clear-cut as it should be.

You can also see the song title on the splash screen. You will see this information on the screen at the end of the song. However, that is all the information you will see. In other words, no artists or writers, etc.

The splash screen soon disappears to a blue background for the yellow lyrics. These change to pink as the song progresses.

LG204 Disc - Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The lyrics sync well with the music most of the time. However, we did find the odd karaoke song that lags slightly. It wasn’t too bad, but it’s what to expect when karaoke makers try to sync perfectly! That is why we always say that karaoke songs should be slightly advanced.

The choice of backing music is excellent, but the Legends Series never seem as sparkling as Zoom, for example. On the plus side, their CDGs and sleeves have unique identities. The artwork might not change much, but the colours do. That is a redeeming factor, as their artwork is not that exciting.

Karaoke Song Sample

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is LG002-04 – Spice Girls – Wannabe.

Our Verdict

  • On-screen Lyrics: 3.5
  • Music Content: 3.5
  • Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 3.5
  • Cover Art: 3.5
  • Overall Average: 3.5
  • Music And Lyrics Average: 3.5

We gave this collection 4 out of 5 in the rating system below because of their dedication to karaoke. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.

Desirability Factor

From our experience, you can’t go wrong with these discs. However, like any other firm that produces many discs, not all are excellent, but they mostly are. If there were any karaoke manufacturer that could have the status of boringly average, then Legends would be the one.

That is not to say we don’t recommend them. On the contrary, we do! However, if you are on a tight budget, Sunfly and Zoom are more exciting and, consequently, better value.

To Sum Up, Legends Karaoke

What an impressive karaoke collection that is! As stated previously, no introduction is necessary for the Legends Karaoke Series. Indeed, their longevity on the karaoke scene is a testament to their pedigree. Moreover, many karaoke jockeys use these discs as a matter of course.

These Legends karaoke discs are always available online, especially on eBay. Also, some are very cheap because there are plenty available to purchase.

Sing your heart out.

In short, we found sealed discs from these Legends sets as low as £2.50 post-free on eBay (USD 3.99) (2014 prices). Now that is a bargain!

In general, karaoke collectors need to know if the quality of the disc is reasonable before they buy it. In other words, the price comes second, and rightly so. By and large, karaoke buyers are like any other consumer. They need the information to make a sound judgement on whether to buy or not.

So, register and tell us what you think about this series. Indeed, what are your experiences with the Legends Karaoke label in general? Your input will help KJs and other karaoke disc collectors before they part with their hard-earned cash.

Avoiding Duplicate Karaoke Tracks

With so many discs available, there are undoubtedly plenty of duplicate tracks. Our songbooks can help you avoid wasting money.

It is up to Karaoke Info to point out as many dupes as possible. For example, when karaoke collectors come across a new label to collect, they need advice like this. That is, so they don’t waste their money.

So, our advice remains the same as for all karaoke manufacturers. That is to ensure you can avoid duplicating songs where possible.

Legends Karaoke - LGUP18 Disc.

In brief, the best way to avoid dupes is to be careful when choosing some of their packs. In this case, Legends Karaoke has a few disc packs where they take tracks from the main series.

So, if you set out to buy into the Legends series for the first time, our advice is to purchase the original main series only. After all, there are 247 discs to collect. That is going to take some collecting in itself!

Legends Karaoke Songbook (Discs & Digital)

Compiling the song list was interesting indeed. When KJs sent in their lists, they also told us about how many dupes were in the packs. Although this may be true, the songbook includes all these packs for convenience.

That way, collectors can pick and choose. However, as with the advice above, stay with the main ‘LG’ series, and you can’t go wrong. So, click the link below to access the Legends Karaoke songbook.

We also have a digital songbook. These books usually list the songs once and have a digital prefix number.

Bad Lyrics

June 15, 2024

Unfortunately, many of the songs have incorrect lyrics. Sometimes, it’s only one or two words. However, in other songs, there are incorrect lyrics all over the place. While there are many good songs in this collection, I cannot recommend this manufacturer unless there is a song you can’t find elsewhere.
