Karaokemaker Series (Canadian Karaoke)

This Karaokemaker Series is a small collection of nine CD+G discs from Canadian producers. Indeed, this is displayed proudly in print on the covers and discs!

However, while we list these as Karaokemaker, it sounds like two words when you speak it: Karaoke Maker. That is a logical way of saying the name, but the discs have karaokemaker.com on them.

Also, we have reliable information that the splash screens display this too. Be that as it may, the producers made a decision, and so be it.

Karaokemaker - Vol 5 - Tragically Hip front cover.

Thanks also to the forum member who sent in the information regarding Karaokemaker. Although the following is old, there are no other discs available. That is because we saw that the website is non-existent now. However, although the firm no longer makes karaoke tracks, let us know if you think our list is incomplete!

To clarify, here is a list of disc ID numbers from the Karaokemaker Series:

Karaokemaker Disc Collection (Prefixes)

** We could not find any trace of disc 2, but we know it exists because we have seen a front cover. However, up to now, we don’t know what songs are on it.

Karaokemaker or Karaoke Maker?

Compact discs with headphones.

Whatever the original intention was for a label name, we can only show what is on the labels. In other words, Karaokemaker. Be that as it may, smaller collections like this set are good to own if you can get hold of them cheaply.

However, if you pursue them on the second-hand market, do a little homework first.

The karaoke discs in the list above and their ID numbers (prefixes) are correct. However, we previously listed these under the ‘Canada Karaoke‘ label. In brief, a member contacted us to tell us of the error. But, we left that page, as it is, as a reference for others.

To sum up, we do not know if the intention was to have the title Karaoke Maker or Karaokemaker. So, information about the makers would be welcome.

Karaokemaker Review

Our initial reaction to this collection is that they made less popular songs. So Karaokemaker was possibly in this niche market alone. Indeed, we believe it was one man and his dog.

The firm tried hard to get decent results because the splash screens varied somewhat between discs. For example, the low-numbered CDGs highlight disc information comparable to the song lyrics. However, we saw the odd example where the info screen ended too early.

The on-screen graphics are pretty basic, and our samples lagged slightly. We based this on some of the vocal accompaniment tracks since no member of the Karaoke Info staff knew any of the songs on offer. We were able to test this using the backing vocals, too.

Despite the lag in lyric synchronisation and their experimentation, their choice of music was good. The artwork on the sleeves was decent, too, with the maple leaf flag proudly on display. The CDGs themselves look standard for the course. This was a decent attempt, and we take our hats off to all involved.

Should you like to write a review of the Karaokemaker Series, please do so. Your input will help fellow karaoke collectors and karaoke jockeys (KJs). Indeed, that is what we are all about here at Karaoke Info!

Our Verdict

  • On-screen Lyrics: 3
  • Music Content: 4
  • Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 3
  • Cover Art: 3.5
  • Overall Average: 3.4
  • Music And Lyrics Average: 3.5

We gave this collection 3 out of 5 in the rating system below. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.

Desirability Factor

We recommend these if you need the karaoke tracks on offer or because of their uniqueness. However, the average karaoke jockey (KJ) or home user may not use them often. So, you would have to want these badly to make it worth your while.

Karaokemaker Songbook

Of course, now you have plenty of information about Karaokemaker. But you will need to know what songs are on the CDGs. Indeed, the songbook for this series is on the next page. In brief, click the link below for the downloadable PDF file.

Please be aware that we don’t know what tracks are on KAR002, so the contents of this disc are not in the songbook.
