Hot Line Karaoke Introduction

The Hot Line Karaoke Series is a set of eight discs. However, seven of those discs are AKA Backstage (BS) discs.

The other one is also similar to a Backstage disc. But, while the HL05 in this collection has 10 Billy Joel tracks, its counterpart from the BS series has 17 tracks.

Apart from HL05 and the labels themselves, these discs are duplicates. While keen karaoke disc collectors might want this set in their collection, the casual user needs to balance the pros and cons of owning them.

Second-Hand Only

Hot Line Karaoke, as well as Backstage, don’t make karaoke discs now. So you can only get these discs on the second-hand market. When we checked eBay last, we found Hot Line discs were cheap.

Imagine owning a complete set of BS Karaoke discs when these Hot Line Karaoke discs become available. In this case, you would add eight discs to your already bulky collection if you bought them. Karaoke Info is all about saving you time, space and money, so avoid them!

Here is a list of all the Hot Line Karaoke discs available.

Hot Line Karaoke Review

Two females singing.

Since this collection of karaoke discs comes from BS, they will perform well enough, but they are far from the best.

However, these discs do not provide any unique songs. Indeed, karaoke collectors would be better off collecting BS Karaoke. But we don’t even recommend those!

It’s bad enough for the karaoke collector to sift through mountains of discs to find the right track. So, you should only buy these if you have no intention of building up a collection from BS Karaoke.

Karaoke Song Sample

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is HL04-02 – Whitney Houston – Greatest Love Of All.

Because these are duplications of the BS discs, they will score relatively low. We only looked at one sample song and could see that it was a dupe. Playback showed the usual slight lag, so we didn’t go further in our tests. Therefore, we will reproduce the scoring for that label:

  • On-screen Lyrics: 2.5
  • Music Content: 3
  • Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 2.5
  • Cover Art: 2.5
  • Overall Average: 2.6
  • Music And Lyrics Average: 2.75

Pointless! The only reason these discs have a karaoke info page is to help people understand the label clearly.
