Galaxy Records Karaoke VCDs (Video Discs) Introduction
We review the Galaxy Records Karaoke Video Discs (VCDs) here. You can also download the songbook, that contains the song titles and the original artists. There are six discs in this list, with 94 tracks to speak of.
The format of these karaoke discs is VCD, meaning Video CDs. While traditional CDGs show lyrics and the odd image, VCDs display lyrics and a video clip. We have a dedicated info page all about the different karaoke formats here.

All the discs above are Multiplex (MPX), meaning you can hear the guide vocals from one speaker. However, with a suitable machine, you can turn off these vocals.
Galaxy Records Karaoke Video Discs (VCDs) Review
The opening splash screens are overbearing with colour. They show the company name (sometimes) and the song title “as popularised by” (artist).
There are slight differences to the splash screens, though. The white lyrics change to blue as a prompt, but our samples show a noticeable lag.
The videos are typical for this type of karaoke in this era.
They show random locations and scenery with no real connection to the song. However, that isn’t a problem because that is what this type of video karaoke is all about.
Indeed, that seems to be these videos’ best quality!
The music is average, while the cover art is colourful but drab. It’s fair to say that these karaoke discs didn’t make an impression on our reviewer.

Galaxy Records karaoke VCDs Songbook

Unlike the primary commercial karaoke directory, the video sets mainly have one songbook. The preferred format is ATD (Original Artist, Song Title, Disc Prefix).
