Capital Karaoke Introduction

Before we begin, this page refers to the commercial discs from Capital Karaoke. However, we also have information about the digital collection for your convenience.

The Capital Karaoke company is still producing discs and tracks in 2024. They are one of only a handful of firms releasing disc versions, which is a blessing for some.

Karaoke Info applauds this because all our staff prefer disc-based systems. However, buying and ripping karaoke discs to a hard drive is easy, and we show you how.

Of course, you only want to know how Capital Karaoke discs and tracks perform. First, we list the series and discs, and then we will review the firm.

Australian Karaoke

Closely related to this Australian label is Sundown Karaoke from New Zealand. Of course, that label has an info page and songbook. Both labels have songbooks for the disc and digital collection.

**Big Hits Karaoke are another karaoke firm from a land down under, and they have their page here. Not only that but at the time of writing, they are only one of a handful of manufacturers still producing, too! So, you may wish to see what they have on offer.

We received the following lists from an old forum member, so thanks for that. Since our last contact in 2022, we have not heard from him again. Of course, we wish him well, regardless. We are certainly open to more information from the series below, so if you can help, please do so.

We are particularly looking for more information about the manufacturers and whether any discs are not on our lists. Be that as it may, we have a lot of other information, including a song list to accompany all the discs below.

Capital Karaoke Labels

In brief, here are the Capital Karaoke series we cover in this section (in alphabetical order):

  • Australian Chart Toppers (ACT)
  • Capital Karaoke (CKA)
  • Rare Gems (CKRG)
  • The Karaoke Company (Australia) (TKCK)

You may download the list of discs above. However, our songbooks are for members only. So, please consider joining us.

Capital Karaoke Info

To clarify, we got this list from an anonymous disc collector who insists it is genuine. However, we have seen a few physical discs from these sets. We have also seen snippets from some of our KJ friends’ songbooks. Indeed, we were just as confused as the poor old KJs.

Therefore, an expert in the Australia/New Zealand scene could help us all out here. In brief, the CKA and the TKCK need clarification. So, can you help out?

This label uses a mixture of tracks from various karaoke manufacturers. For example, you may find a song in their library from Music Maestro. However, they could use others. Indeed, rumours suggest they sometimes use Zoom. That is because they use licensing from imports.

The firm can also sell you a hard disc with thousands of karaoke tracks. But they will cost thousands of Australian dollars. However, these HDDs are legal, and you will not need to worry about format shifting.

Capital Karaoke Review

Capital Karaoke. CKA29 Front Cover.

As far as we are concerned at Karaoke Info, The Seekers are the best Australian export.

With the magical voice of Judith Durham and the band members, they broke into the UK pop charts in the 1960s.

It was a time that Judith can never forget, and our lives have become all the richer for it.

With this in mind, we mainly sampled their songs because they are all excellent, in our opinion.

The splash screens can vary somewhat. The company name appears at the start and end of the track. You will also see the original artist and song title. You may also see other information, including “Capital Imports.”

The best part of our review was that our samples all had well-timed lyrics. In other words, they matched the beat impeccably. Some were slightly ahead, and that is far better than a lag. The colour schemes of the on-screen graphics were different, as we expected. Therefore, we will not talk about an individual disc or track.

From our samples, we think their choice of backing music was excellent. The artwork is knockout, with many diverse images, particularly on the sleeves.

Karaoke Song Sample

Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is from Capital Karaoke: CKA08-06 – John Farnham – You’re The Voice.

Our Verdict

  • On-screen Lyrics: 4.5
  • Music Content: 4.5
  • Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 3.5
  • Cover Art: 5
  • Overall Average: 4.4
  • Music And Lyrics Average: 4.5

We gave this collection 5 out of 5 in the rating system below. But remember, our samples were few and far between. You can also vote for these, even if you don’t have the discs or tracks. Indeed, all you need to do is watch our presentation video above and judge that.

Desirability Factor

Some of the songs and artists on these discs are unique to Australia and New Zealand. However, from our sample list, we marked these well. Therefore, we have no option but to recommend them. We say this because we see no reason why the rest of the discs and songs on offer will perform differently.

More Info Is Needed

Our brief test with the odd track found the quality of these discs to be above average. They are well worth collecting because of their rarity and contain a song or two not available elsewhere.

Karaoke Info allows independent reviews, so if you have any of these discs, why not give us your opinions? We commit ourselves to providing collectors with the best information available. So, your input will help enormously.

Your Input Matters

Indeed, we welcome all input. All this information will help karaoke disc collectors before they part with their hard-earned cash.

For example, if all tracks on CKA are on TKCK discs, what would be the point of owning both? That would not only be expensive but also a complete waste of space.

So, the objective is clear as a bell in this section. We need more information! That is because your input matters! Don’t forget to come back and leave a comment if you buy any discs because of the information we already have here!

Capital Karaoke Songbook (Discs & Digital)

Usually, before we buy anything, we need to know what we are getting for our money. With this in mind, we have a songbook to accompany all the discs in the lists above. However, this label also has a digital songbook. This means all tracks are given a corresponding number and are listed once to eliminate dupes.

We arrange our songbooks like most KJs do theirs, of course. In short, click the link below to access the complete track listings for these ‘Down Under’ karaoke discs.
