Atoy Karaoke Series (OZP)
The Atoy Karaoke series is a homemade collection of midi sounds. This karaoke maker made use of an electronic keyboard at home. But how do they perform? We list the track prefixes below, and then we review this production.
Atoy’s contribution to the karaoke scene is making tracks never released commercially. Honky Cat Karaoke did the same, so well done to these people.
We see the same popular song turned into a karaoke track many times by different companies. Meanwhile, they ignore some excellent songs that people want to sing.
With this in mind, we can only admire those, like Atoy, who took care of this discrepancy. The Atoys tracks are nearly all midi versions, being a keyboard production. But, until the commercial companies catch up, we take your hat off to this producer.
Atoy Karaoke Label
We know very little about the maker, who seems to work alone. That is not surprising since these tracks were never released commercially.
We are told that Atoy also stopped making karaoke tracks along with the established labels. What a shame!
The image shows a custom-made disc from OZ Productions. But this is just a virtual interpretation of how they could look if you burned them to CD.
A member sent this image to us of the OZP01 “disc” and said that these images don’t come from Atoy. However, after burning these MP3+Gs to a disc, you will see how they could look. Of course, it is fitting that homemade karaoke tracks get a homemade karaoke label.
**The complete homemade labels are available on the songbook download page.
OZP Karaoke List
Here is a list of karaoke ID numbers from Atoy Karaoke, AKA OZ Productions. We asked members to send in their disc prefixes and track information. All the returned lists were identical. In other words, everyone was using the following prefixes:
Even though there are no physical discs to acquire whatsoever, the maker seems to have grouped them into something resembling disc form:
You can download our songbooks below. Of course, they show the song titles and original artists. The first song in this collection is OZP001-01 – The Scorpions – Always Somewhere. The final track on the last disc is OZP119-16 – Patsy Montana (Parody) – 16 Pounds (Answer to 16 Tons).
Atoy Homemade vs Commercial CDG Releases
In general, Karaoke Info promotes the use of karaoke discs. That is because, with decent gear, you usually get a far better sound. Indeed, you get audio across the complete spectrum. For example, karaoke setups that use professional CDGs get beautiful highs, beautiful mid-range, and thundering lows. That only applies when you use top-quality equipment, of course.
On the other hand, homemade karaoke is usually of suspect quality. Homemade karaoke is usually MP3+G.
Indeed, the quality of homemade karaoke can never be as good as a properly made CDG version.
You can only play these homemade MP3+G tracks on a computerised system. That is, if you have the correct software. Of course, successfully burn them to a CD, and then you can use them in any karaoke player.
That is another reason why we are not too keen on homemade stuff. However, we love all karaoke here at the Info Network. So, we don’t knock any attempts by the karaoke makers. We love this attempt, despite the low score.
Atoy Karaoke Review
The splash screen shows the odd graphic, like a guitar, for instance. Then, there is the song title and the artist who made the song famous. You will also see “Conversion by Atoy”.
The end splash screen on our samples also shows “Presented to you by Atoy, also known as Ozpinoy and Lucky_Gift”.
The on-screen lyrics are big, bold, and legible on a blue background. The wording seems consistent throughout—it is red and turns yellow as the song progresses. However, they hardly kept up with the beat. In other words, they seem to lag and are not in sync.
Musically, they are pretty basic, as they appear to be midi tracks. Be that as it may, a few tracks are meaty and worthy of use. That is, if you can get hold of them!
Because these tracks are not commercially available, the maker provides no physical discs or sleeves. As such, the artwork is non-existent. But some enthusiasts have homemade versions of those, too. Again, finding those will be like trying to find a rocking horse’s dirt!
Karaoke Sample
Although we may use numerous songs for the review, we only provide one sample video to represent the label. So, the song sample for our video presentation is OZP029-14 – Joan Baez – Diamonds And Rust.
Our Verdict
- On-screen Lyrics: 2
- Music Content: 2.5
- Splash Screen, Graphics, Video: 4
- Cover Art: 3
- Overall Average: 2.8
- Music And Lyrics Average: 2.25
Due to the mistiming, these karaoke tracks get a low score. If they had synchronized well, they could easily have scored a 4. Of course, with no cover art from the maker, we mark them based on what is available from others. Overall, we gave them a respectable 2 out of 5.
You can also vote for these karaoke tracks. If you have not found any Atoys, make a judgement by watching our presentation video above.
Desirability Factor
Despite these karaoke tracks not being commercially available, their rarity and novelty make them desirable. Alas, it will be difficult for you to find them!
Atoy karaoke music is not for sale anywhere. In other words, they are not commercially available. However, if you have any of these tracks, let us know what you think of them.
For example, how do they compare with the commercially available karaoke tracks?
In effect, we would like to hear from those who have experience with Atoy’s homemade karaoke (OZP). In particular, we would like to know your opinions about the quality of the actual music.
Indeed, in your opinion, what is the state of the on-screen lyrics? Does our assessment seem correct, or have we been harsh with the samples we used?
We list the “disc” ID numbers (prefixes) in good faith. Now, we await further input and reviews from you!
Who Is Atoy (Karaoke Maker)?
We all want to know more about the producer/maker. That is because this karaoke maker is very talented!
Moreover, Atoy makes karaoke tracks that the big firms forgot about making. What a refreshing thought. With this in mind, why do established karaoke firms concentrate on similar music tracks?
Of course, people want more variety in karaoke. Indeed, we also demand tracks from past classic albums. For example, are all Beatles tracks in karaoke form? Without a doubt, they aren’t, but Atoy made quite a few!
Be that as it may, you still can’t buy them. Ah, to get hold of that obscure Beatles track would be Heaven, indeed! In short, click the link below to access the Atoy Karaoke Songbook.
Atoy Karaoke Songbook
Now that you have a list of the tracks available, you need a songbook. As ever, we have that on the next page. Karaoke fans checking the Atoys Karaoke songbook will like what they see. That is because there are some gems in it.
